Week 5 - Manager
February 21, 2001
The field of candidates is getting smaller each week. The person you vote off this week won't get promoted to "manager" like everyone else. Just like the TV show, you decide who to promote by voting one person out of the company each week.
Play along each week as we look at what it takes to survive the politics and competition in the workplace. Remember, we started at trainee and we'll end up at CEO. Who is not qualified to be a manager? Vote that person off. You can vote for one person on each team if you wish.

My Prediction I was right. And that split into two segments was most obvious at the tribal council. The vote split on segment lines and so did the revote. The ultimate ouster of Mitchell may actually help to reunite the Ogakor group. Jerri is "playing" the game well. She's smart enough to see that what remains of her power base (herself and Amber) isn't strong enough to compete against the other segment. I expect her to "make nice" and try to work her way back into the group. Meanwhile, the Kucha "department" seems to be having difficulty with "company culture". Mike's slaying of the pig and decorating his face with its blood was a little too much "Lord of the Flies" for me. However, his team seemed to really enjoy the end result. They liked the roast pork dinner. All except Kimmi. She's a vegetarian. So while the rest of the team got over their revulsion over the process (hunting and slaying) and enjoyed the results (pork dinner), Kimmi remained disgusted by the whole thing. Kimmi is finding it difficult to adjust to this new aspect of the "culture" of her team. She is becoming increasingly vocal about her objections. She also is getting physically weaker from lack of protein. I think those two factors give her teammates both an excuse (weaker) and a reason (disruptive) to get rid of her next. And that's what I expect to happen this week. The show's producers (think of them as the Board of Directors of this company) won't let the Ogakor fall too far behind Kucha. The immunity challenge will be selected to give Ogakor an even chance, if not a slight advantage. Kucha will lose the immunity challenge and they will vote Kimmi out. Do you agree? Or not? Be sure to vote (the polls are on the right side of this page) and check back Friday morning as we talk about it on the Management Forum. |
