The latest edition of Survivor started with "leaders" being elected for each of the two tribes. Neither leader volunteered or campaigned for the job, but they got it anyway. In one tribe in particular, the Foa Foa tribe the "leader", Mick, is not very assertive. However, he has two people on his team who think they can do the job better than he can and that they should be doing it. One even thinks he has taken over already. I would say they were undercutting Mick, backstabbing him, except that he doesn't seem to be doing anything. As a result, there is already strong disunity in the tribe and that does not bode well for their future success.
If you were Mick, the appointed leader, and this were a business situation rather than a TV show you would have to do something pretty quickly to fix things or you would be out of a job. In all probability either Ben or Russell would be promoted into your job. So what would you do? What should Mick do? What can Mick do? Mick has to be assertive, accept his role,do the job in hand, ask for suggestions from the other two but at the same time take charge and convey them that he is incharge.
When in charge, take charge. I learned this in the military. You may not want to be in charge, you may not feel like being in charge that day, you may not even really know what to do, but if you are the one in charge TAKE CHARGE.
Use the strengths of your people to create a plan. Mick doesn’t have to have all of the answers, just get the people working together. Of course no matter what he does Russell is just going to stab him in the back because that is why he is there. The sooner they all realize what Russell is doing to the team and get rid of him, the better off they will be.
