From the article: Why Men Earn More
Why, forty years after the Federal Equal pay Act, are hard-working women still paid less than the guys on the job? Warren Farrell's book "Why Men Earn More: The Startling Truth Behind the Pay Gap-and What Women Can Do About It" suggests that the pay gap between men and women is not the result of rampant discrimination, but rather because of career choices women (and men) make.
Women should NOT earn less
- the reasons quoted in Farrell's book only account for a minor portion of the reason why women are paid less (e.g. the "mommy-track"). The main reason is DISCRIMINATION based on outdated social ideals that never even possible among the working class and among racial minorities (e.g. the idea of a white male breadwinner providing economic stability for a housewife and children). Authors like Farrell are doing a disservice to society in propagating the myth of why women are paid less. Women who do BETTER in college than men and apply for the SAME job end up with a lower salary because they are put in a social position where it is not politically correct for them to negotiate their salary due to a bias against women who are not playing "nice".

why women get less salary than men get?
- I think women get less than mens income because women can't do everything what men can do like, working in dangerous and dirty place.specially, men are stronger and more creative than women and they can do anything like going to army and most men are reading more than women .For example when student finish high school the girl student chose nurse carrier and boy chose doctor so its make the difference in salary. In company also women are working easiest work than men and men are helping women after he done his work .Its show that why there is a wage gap in man and women But in today's world all should be equal and everyone should get same amount in same work .

Sexism. There is no reason.
- Clearly for the equal work women/females can contribute to something as a male would, there's more than just work hours and commute/trips that are gaining men more. If a female does equal work as best she can in her line of work, she gets equal pay. No questions asked! To say men work more and they deserve more is nothing more then sexism. If women care more about family than men then that's a thumbs down for men! There's more to life than just making money. It's also selfish, because then he'd be considered the "head of house" and "macho" BS. Same work, same pay. Less work, less pay. It makes sense, but some people expect more than what some females may give. If you can see someone doing the best they can, that right there should give you a hint - they deserve more. Just because a male may give a tiny bit more at some times doesn't give anyone a right to toss money at him, give him a promotion, make him manager and treat him like a higher human being. Sexism always lies behind this.
