- It was a wintry day in last December when I was crossing the park of Sector 15 in Chandigarh that I found A friend of Mine talking on his mobile to somebody. His voice started coming clear to me sooner did I reach close to him. It was an astonishing experience for me to hear that he aws making an excuse to his boss. The excuse was that Just he heard from his family that his father had passed away. I was aghast !

- The restaurant where I work hired a Swedish girl who was very nice and a good waitress. 6 months down the road, she got wrapped up in the D.C. nightlife. She started calling in sick every other day. We had finally had it and told her to bring a doctor's excuse. The next day she called in "tired".

A Fishy Excuse Nonetheless
- A shark washed up in our driveway. (We live 60 miles from the coast. But one morning as I was leaving for work we found a dead Hammerhead shark --3 ft--lying in the driveway. Later discovered a neighbor had caught it and given it to our 6 year old son (thank you very much--south Georgia in July--we had to bury it)

- The "swine flu" was going around the community, and an employee called to say she was "tired of all the swine" at the job and in her life and that "it was time she flew to another place". She would not be in ever again (except to pick up the check).

Sunny California Day
- I was a Union Rep and was called into a meeting with Mahagement and the employee. The employee was a woman of about 45 years old. She had a attendance problem and 'on a program' due to the absences. She was again absent the day before. When asked why she didn't make it to work she replied, "My windshield wipers didn't work so I couldn't drive". I was dumfounded...because it had not rained nor had we any bad weather for weeks !!
