What Professional Baseball Can Teach Professional Managers

Part 4 - THE APOLOGY
My apology to those of you who are not sports fans.

I recognize that not all managers are rabid baseball fans like I am. Certainly there are excellent managers who do not care for sports. It is not my intent to offend anyone who does not care for sports or sports analogies. Rather it is my intent to use what I consider an excellent metaphor to help guide those individuals who enjoy, as well as appreciate, sports analogies.

Part 1 The beginning of this story.

Part 2 My assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of a professional baseball team as it conducts its business of playing the game.

Part 3 My recommendations to the senior management (manager and coaches) of the baseball team on how to improve the efficiency, quality, and profitability of their operation.
