EBITDA

By F. John Reh, About.com

Definition: EBITDA is an abbreviation for Earnings before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization. It reports what the company would have earned during the period if it did not have to pay interest on its debt; didn't have to pay taxes; and had depreciated the full value of all assets at their acquisition. It is roughly equivalent to the Operating Income line in the Income Statements.
