As much as we all love continuous improvement plans (CIP), none of that can be called innovation. Yes, you need to have a program to convert good ideas into actual action, but don't confuse these processes with the introduction of something new - innovation. Thomas Edison did not set out to improve the candle, but rather to improve ON the candle. That's what companies also must do today to be successful.
