(1) Alan Kemp says:

On point number 3 I would agree to a point. However when a person is peforming a job, regardless of thzat job they are acting in a professional manner and as such any personal matters remain in their personal life not in their careers. Involving ourselves as managers in an employee’s personal life with anything more than some time off to bring things back together in their personal lives is 1) an invasion of their privacy even if it’s asked for. It will usually blow up on you eventually. And 2) very dangerous ass one is almost immediately drawn into confrontational situations where we can be forced to take sides in a situation where we usually don’t know all the facts.
Sorry I got kind of olng winded there but any more than a minimal amount of involvement is a bad idea.
