Fathers Are Often Our First Mentors

Sunday June 21, 2009
My first mentor taught me many things, but probably the most valuable lessons he taught me were about leadership. Leadership is an important skill in many aspects of your life, especially in business. So as the US celebrates Fathers' Day, I want to share with you the story of my first mentor, a man who was The Best Leader I Ever Knew.

(1) Matthew says:

Sorry to hear about your loss, John.
Your father, Frank, sounds like a very inspirational person. I dare say an exceptional person; leader; life-long learner; dedicated to his children.

However, I can safely say that my own father does not exhibit half of those qualities. I know it may sound disrespectful, but I do not consider my father as MY first mentor. Fortunately, due to the various information mediums such as the internet ( eg. this article), we can learn about inspirational individuals and do as they do.

RIP Frank
