Use Chunking Instead of Multi-tasking To Get More Done

Monday July 14, 2008
Do you multi-task at work? Do you think that helps you get more done? It does not. You can actually be more productive by chunking rather than multi-tasking. The name isn't as exciting, but the results are impressive.

With chunking, you will get more done and it will be better work. So if you have allowed yourself to be pulled into the web of multi-tasking, read Use Chunking Instead of Multi-tasking to get yourself out of that web and on to a more productive day.

I would go for chunking.

When you concentrate on a bunch of related tasks you will achieve more results.

I usually divide my tasks into platforms I open one program at a time instead of struggling to change gears switching from one platform to another.

Yes, it is very true, chunking is the best. The only problem is to practice ignoring other things like the phone or someone who comes running into your office to say something like your boss who you cannot ignore. Otherwise chunking is the best!!!

This is so very true. Everyone justs wants a “minute” of your time. By the time you go back to project it’s another “minute” and then the phone rings… I have been blocking 2 hours Monday mornings without interruptions to look at the week and prioritize,
It’s amazing how innovative people can be on their own!
