Workers Like Adjustable Computer Workstations
Friday October 12, 2007
I have always liked to work at a stand-up desk, but it was always hard to convince an employer to provide one for me. Now there is a study out from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society that reports 4 out of 5 workers, when given the choice, preferred such an arrangement.
The inducement for the employers, however, is that workers with adjustable workstations show "significantly more productivity". They also have less musculoskeletal pain, which can lead to lower health care costs for the employer.

I have always liked a tall desk or an adjustable one. Either have a taller chair or work standing up for part of the day as it allows me to stretch and be productive. The drawback is that in my current company I have a cubicle and not an office, so changing one cubicle will be difficult, if not impossible, as it makes the office look different. Changing your own office is different than changing one cubicle in the office.
