Best Companies for Working Mothers

Thursday September 15, 2005
An important segment of the worker pool is the working mother. Companies who want to attract and/or retain these employees have found creative ways to adjust to the flexibility that raising children can require. Working Mother magazine published it's 20th annual list of the best companies to work for.

The three top considerations this year were flexible scheduling, child-care options, and time off for new parents, but companies were scored on 500 different items in their application for inclusion on the list. The companies also had to provide supporting documentation.

Many of the companies that made the "best" list are "family-friendly" rather than just good places for mothers to work. Fathers find many of these same benefits attractive so family-friendly companies can have a recruiting advantage for male parents as well.
