Good Recruiting Tactic or Outright Lie?

Wednesday October 20, 2004
We are all familiar with job applicants who "puff up" their resumes. Some do a little embellishment. Others flat out lie. We all know that's wrong and we refuse to hire any we can screen out and we fire those we catch after we hire them.

So why then is it okay for the company to lie in its recruiting advertising? Or is it okay? Shewolf says her boss is recruiting to fill assistant manager and sales positions, but is recruiting for "Manager" and "Assistant Manager". He claims it is a ploy. She thinks her job is in jeopardy. Which is it? Is this a brilliant recruiting ploy, a devious way to replace a manager, or just an outright lie by the manager? Make your voice heard in this discussion on our Management Forum
