US State Dept. Issues Dress Code

Tuesday December 2, 2003
According to an Agence France-Presse story, The US Department of State has issued "Guidelines on Appropriate Dress" to its envoys and their charges. The guidelines require "neat and businesslike" attire and prohibit "casual wear, such as flip-flops and halter tops/bare midriffs." The guidelines remind the employees that their "mission requires that our employees project competence and professionalism".
